Folding Glass Balcony
Panels slide, turn and stack in one corner, opening up almost the entire balcony.
How it works
The first panel opens with a turning handle. The others run along the track on bearing-mounted carriages, turn inwards one by one and stack together in a corner. Because the track follows the balcony line, the panels travel round corners on L-shaped, U-shaped and curved balconies. Leave a free space about one panel wide in the stacking corner; since every panel turns inwards, its outer face can be cleaned from the balcony.
How do the panels stack?
The panels are not hinged together. Each one slides along the track on its own and turns inwards at the corner.
Turn the handle
Turn the handle on the first panel; it unlocks and swings inwards.
Slide the panels
Push the other panels along the track towards the stacking corner; they glide on roller carriages.
Turn them in
Turn each panel inwards as it reaches the corner; it rests parallel to the previous one.
The opening is clear
The panels stand as a compact stack in the corner. Almost the whole balcony along the track is open.
On L-shaped, U-shaped and curved balconies the track follows the balcony edge and the panels travel round the corners. Keep a space as wide as one panel free inside the stacking corner, and place plants and curtains accordingly.
What is inside a panel?
The drawing shows the lower part of a double-glazed panel.
- 1Aluminium profileCarries the glass; made of high-strength aluminium.
- 2Metal reinforcementRuns inside the profile and stiffens the panel.
- 3Double glazingTwo panes with an insulating gap between them.
- 4Brush sealKeeps dust, wind and water out at the track.
- 5Roller carriageLets the panel glide easily along the track.
Single-glazed panels use 8 or 10 mm toughened glass, with clear seals between the panels.
Use and care
It needs little care. A few habits keep it running smoothly for years.

Frequently asked questions about folding glass balconies
About one panel width. The panels turn inwards and stand as a stack in the corner; keep plants, curtains and furniture clear of that space. The exact size is set at the survey.
Yes. The turning handle on the first panel locks the panels when closed; they cannot open until it is turned. Keep them closed and locked in strong wind.
Single glazing protects the area from wind and rain and creates a milder space than outside, but is not designed for heating a room. If you want to use the area in winter, choose the double glazing option with an insulating cavity.
Total glass area, chosen system, single or double glazing, glass and profile colours, balcony layout and installation conditions determine the price. The final price is quoted after an on-site survey.
On folding systems, panels swing inwards so the outer surface can be cleaned from inside. On sliding systems, external access may be limited on upper floors; guillotine models are planned according to access. We agree on the right solution during the survey.
