Bioclimatic Louvred Roofs - Başaran

Bioclimatic Louvred Roofs

Change the angle of the aluminium louvres to set shade, light and airflow, and close the roof when the rain starts.

Louvres that only rotate, or louvres that also retract?

In all three models the louvres rotate and keep rain out when closed. The real difference is how much sky you see when the roof is open.

Open sky: gaps between louvres

The louvres turn upright in place. Light and air come through the gaps, and the louvre lines stay overhead. A compact frame is enough.

Rotate only opening and layout view.

The stacking zone depends on the model and size; it is shown on the drawing after the site survey.

What a bioclimatic roof is made of

Large areas are covered not by one roof but by modules placed side by side. Each module is planned separately.

Where is it Bioclimatic Louvred Roofs - Where is it used?used?

A bioclimatic roof lets you use an outdoor space for much more of the year, not just in summer.

Villa gardens and terraces

Creates a shaded seating area in front of the living room. If you want more winter daylight indoors, the scissor-arm model with its fully opening roof stands out.

Cafés and restaurants

The louvres close in the rain and open in fine weather, so seating no longer depends on the forecast. The sides can be closed with glass systems or zip screens.

Hotels and poolside areas

Modules with moving louvres, open bays and fixed roofs can be planned side by side to cover large areas section by section.

Small terraces and garden corners

Its compact profile gives shade and rain protection in tight spaces without making the structure look heavy.

Frequently asked questions about bioclimatic roof systems

If you want to open the roof completely to the sky, look at the scissor-arm model: its louvres retract into a stack at one end and most of the roof opens. For adjusting shade, light and air by rotating the louvres, piston and tilt models provide practical solutions. The final choice is made at the site survey, based on the measurements and how you will use the space.

With the louvres closed, the seals keep water out; rain on the louvres runs into the perimeter gutters and down through the posts to the ground. In very heavy downpours, or if leaves block the gutters, they can overflow. If you open the louvres right after the rain, a few remaining drops may fall inside.

A closed roof keeps the rain off and extends the season, but a bioclimatic roof is not an insulated room. Closing the sides with glass systems or zip screens and adding a heater makes a clear difference in winter. If you want to use the space as a room, a winter garden is the better choice.

Total area, the model, the number of modules and posts, the mounting type, frame colour, lighting and control options, and any side enclosures. The final price is based on measurements taken on site.

Send us the approximate dimensions, the type of ground and whether the roof will be fixed to a wall or stand on its own. Our team will book a visit to measure on site, and the suitability of the ground and wall is checked at the same time. The quote is based on these measurements.

On most systems the louvres are opened in strong wind to reduce the load on the roof. The louvres should not be moved when iced up, and opening them before expected snow is generally recommended. Rain and wind sensor options are assessed per project at the site survey, together with local wind and snow conditions.

Powder-coated aluminium needs no repainting, but the system is not maintenance-free. Gutters and leaf guards should be cleaned at least twice a year, especially after autumn. Wipe louvres and profiles with water, a neutral cleaner and a soft cloth; avoid abrasive products.

For exterior alterations in apartment buildings, approval from building management or co-owners may be required; we review this together during the site survey.
