Pleated Blind
A slim-profile blind with accordion-folding fabric, made for glass balconies and large windows.
How it works
The pleated fabric runs on tension cords between slim profiles. Pull the profile and the fabric opens; push it back and it folds into a small stack. The blind stays where you leave it.

How to use it
Stacked
The blind sits as a slim pack at the top of the glass and keeps the view clear.
Pull down
Hold the bottom rail and pull it down; the blind stays where you leave it.
Fully closed
The blind covers the whole pane; light is softened and views from outside are blocked.
Moves with the panel
Fixed to the panel, it travels with the glass when you open the balcony; no need to raise it first.

Fabric: how much light, how much privacy?
The same mechanism behaves very differently depending on the fabric. The fabric types available are shown from the sample book at the site visit.
Colours and available fabrics are shown with samples at the site visit.
Sheer
Softens light and reduces daytime views in. At night, with lights on, the room shows.
Translucent
The room stays bright. At night you can tell a light is on, but not see inside.
Blackout
Blocks light; for bedrooms. With single-layer blackout, pinpoints of light can pass through the cord holes.
Measuring and fitting on a glass balcony
A pleated blind is fitted not to the ceiling but to each glass panel, so each panel is measured separately.

Exact measurements are taken on site.
- WidthNet glass width, excluding seals and frame.
- HeightNet glass height, excluding top and bottom profiles.
- Folding glass balconyThe blind is fitted to the panel and moves with the glass as the panels stack. The mounting method is set at the site survey to suit the panel type.
- Sliding glass balconyPanels slide past each other, so the mounting method is set at the site survey to suit the panel type.

Frequently asked questions about pleated blinds
Start with where you want to stop the sun. To close a terrace, pergola or large opening from the outside, choose a zip screen; for angled shade over windows and shop fronts, a drop-arm awning. To adjust light and privacy indoors, pleated blinds suit glass balconies and windows, and Venetian blinds suit offices and workspaces.
External systems usually reduce heat gain more, because they stop the sun before it reaches the glass. Internal blinds meet the sunlight after it has passed through the glass; they are effective for controlling light, glare and privacy. On hot elevations the two can be combined.
For pleated and Venetian blinds, a soft brush or a dry microfibre cloth is usually enough; wipe Venetian slats closed, first tilted one way, then the other. Zip screen and awning fabric can be wiped while lowered with a soft cloth and lukewarm soapy water; keep the side rails clear of leaves and dust. Do not machine-wash pleated fabric, and do not soak blackout fabrics.
The system chosen, overall size, fabric or slat type, colour, motorised or manual operation and the mounting surface all affect the price. The final quote is based on measurements taken on site.
Just tell us the type of space, approximate dimensions and the system you have in mind. Our team will book an appointment to measure on site, and the quote is prepared from those measurements. On glass balconies we measure with the movement of the panels in mind.
